Effective managers maximize
and encourage employee performance by aligning these three steps:
- Managers must know and communicate a broad view
of expectations about the job.
- Managers must understand each employee's current
capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses, to help assure 'best-fit' between
the task and employee.
- Managers must follow-up with on-going feedback,
dialogue and effective appraisals Providing sufficient attention to
each employee throughout the year will re-balance the impact of a total
end-of-year rating.
It sounds simple but it's not so easy to do! In
fact, we know from our global research that these are some of the least
developed competencies. F&L Group can help by providing training courses
that include the Performance
Manager. Our programs result in a process which ensures:
-Goals and objectives that are appropriate
for the employee and aligned with the organization
-Action plans that are formulated to accomplish the goals and objectives
in the upcoming year.
-More accurate performance appraisals by using a tool that resists
inflating scores
-Employees being more open to 'negative feedback'
-Better job improvement and performance plans by providing specific
developmental advice
